Atahin Romero – Murals, Portraits, 3d Art
It was a pleasure to meet the friendly and very talented Atahin during the BUMP Festival last September. He was born in Puerto Vallarta and continues to live in his hometown.
Atahin was one of the muralists at the BUMP Festival – check out the progress of his creation, located at Salon Diva’s, Melchor Ocampo 51.
In chatting with Atahin, we asked him some questions about his work. He is gifted and dedicated, and offers good advice for young people to follow their dreams.
Where do you live?
Puerto Vallarta
When did you know you wanted to become an artist?
When I was eight years old I knew I had an easy hand for drawings, so I started experimenting and my hunger just grew with the passage of time. Practicing portraits and cartoons from magazines, and anything that was Art-related, I was just hooked. I wanted to try more, like sculpting, hand painted signs, some decorative murals for schools and businesses, and now I’m starting in realistic murals and I’m loving it.
Did you receive formal training or are you self-taught?
Self-taught
Is there any message you would like others to know?
Only a message for the children and young people who are interested in Art. Do not pay attention to negative opinions. Just do what you are passionate about, experiment and discover more ways to express yourself and enjoy the trip.
Well said, Atahin!
We loved Atahin’s skill and enthusiasm so much, we commissioned him to create two portraits for our newlywed sons.
Wowsa!
Make sure you say hello to Atahin at the Bucerias Chalk Art Walk along Lazaro Cardenas, February 21-23, 2023.
