While scrolling through my Facebook feed, I continued to see enticing photos of the beautiful inventory at Nelly’s Art, Shoes & Accessories. I finally visited her adorable store on Estaciones, and now I can’t stay away!

I’m offering some solid advice here…ladies or gentlemen, if you’re unsure what to get your love for Valentine’s Day, this is your place.

If you’d like to add some spark to your wardrobe or home decor, Nelly’s store is a must. She has a knack for turning any space into something warm and welcoming.

Nelly Ángel was born in Mexico City and has lived in Bucerias since 2007. She tells me she’s had an interest in home decorating and fashion since she was just a child. As her family travelled through various Mexican states, she would see beautiful items and imagine their own home decorated with those hand crafted pieces, urging her mother to buy them, “Please, please, buy this for the house. Sometimes she did, and sometimes not.”

Nelly says she is not a decorator, but “when people came to my house they would say, ‘Nelly, it’s beautiful!'” That’s when she decided to purchase a few specialty items and sell them on Facebook. Nelly explains, “People love the boho look, and this area is a very good place for this style.”

Nelly’s primary responsibility is her store, but she also assists in her family’s business, “Nely’s Upholstery & Furniture Cleaning.” telephone 322 102 4336 or look them up on Facebook. (yes, only one “l”)

Prior to opening her store, Nelly sold her merchandise at the local markets in Nuevo and Puerto Vallarta. She also took orders and delivered the product, but didn’t have a physical location until May 2022. Nelly opened the doors to her showroom, located on Estaciones, and has been satisfying new and repeat customers ever since.

Her products are hand made by “amazing people and amazing artists” throughout the country, shipping their crafts to Nelly’s store from Jalisco, Oaxaca, Chiapas, Mexico City, Michoacán, Tlaxcala Puebla, and the Yucatan. Much of Nelly’s sales come from her posts on Facebook, and she believes it’s an excellent tool for people to know where the store is and what types of items she offers.

She explains how she feels fulfillment in connecting with the many artists. “My goal is to support the artisans and to show people the artist’s expertise. Many, many artisans live where there is no internet and it is very far to the nearest village. Because of that, they don’t have sales. If I support them, for me, I feel good. I can offer good prices because I buy directly from them.

Currently, Nelly’s store is open Monday to Friday from 12:00pm to 5:00pm, and Saturday from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Her hours of operation will extend in the coming weeks – check Facebook for confirmation.
