The Siesta is Over!

Big Difference After a Trim!

Back in mid-March, the pandemic arrived in Bahia de Banderas. Stay home, do not pass go, do not win a bunch of pesos, STAY HOME! And we did, we stayed home. The last article I posted was titled “Hello Out There”. We were waking up from our pandemic driven siesta. We are past the yawning and stretching. Businesses are re-opening. People are getting back to work.

As we adjust our lives to the new normal, which is a lot about social distancing, masks, and hand sanitizers, we realize we are not alone. The businesses are all about the same new normal. We have visited a few more and have felt safe and comfortable.

Cerveceria Bahia de Banderas Brewery is open with superb social distancing. Staff are masked, attentive and professional. Pretty easy to social distance when your venue is outdoors! Aaron the brewmaster has five unique beers brewed on site. Live entertainment on Saturday evenings. Try a flight of beer…5 flavours to work through. The food is best described as pub fare. The right amount at a reasonable price. For more information, visit their Facebook page.

Armando’s Place is worth the visit. A delightful courtyard setting with well spaced seating, a drink, an appetizer, and an entree. I had the Chile en Nagada. Superb! A wonderful violinist added to the evening. Francisco I. Madero, #34 or find them on Facebook

Sandrina’s, one of our favourites has reopened. Canadian Thanksgiving dinner was well prepared, well served, and well attended. The garden setting with safely distanced seating works well. Her menu has a mediterranean flair that really has something for everyone. sandrinas.com

Mark’s Bar and Grill reopened this past weekend. Great menu, great service and lots of space. Mark and Jan have been doing this for many years. No surprise that they get it right! marksbucerias.mx

Laurie and the crew are back at Kensho. Where is that? The original name was Chin Gon. Got it? Anyway, new name, which will be a story for another day, but the same great food with the Asian flair.

Flights from Canada seem to be getting organized. Kelly and I share 5 children. The youngest and his fiance, Fadi, arrive in a couple of weeks on a direct flight Toronto to Puerto Vallarta. Our friends Brian and Lynn are booked on the same flight. We will let you know their thoughts on the travel day. In the meantime we have a great smile behind that mask!
