We know life is different right now. There are new routines and lifestyles for all of us. There are also, however, many things that just keep going, oblivious to the different world around us. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The sun continues to rise. Every day. Spring continues to emerge, with crocuses and daffodils peeking through. I can imagine the clusters of trilliums carpeting the forest floors in our old stomping grounds, Ontario. Here in Bucerias, the primavera trees are in full swing…gorgeous. No greenery, just blossoms soaring above, fallen petals blanketing the base and anything under it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
The roosters still crow, the dogs still bark, the hummingbirds still come to feed. The afternoon breeze here is incredible, the waves inviting, although off limits, and I can imagine the disappointment of all the kite-surfers, knowing our annual Wind Festival will not take place this year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Construction continues in some spots. The pedestrian crossing that connects north and south Bucerias, “The Kissing Bridge”, is under major renovation as part of the Bucerias malecon\/arroyo upgrades, as well as the new school and library in east Bucerias. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Birds and the Bees…<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Some things never change, despite these changed times. The birds continue to chirp, and the bees still buzz, and guess what? Babies still arrive! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Friends in Seattle recently added a new member to their family, a beautiful baby girl! She is welcomed by all, including her big brother.<\/p>\n\n\n\nBaby Comes Home<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
Grandma writes – “I thought you might enjoy seeing this photo of our new granddaughter meeting the family, with masks and all, on her way home from the hospital. Social distancing at its finest! Not too many kids will have a photo like this in their baby album!”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And, friends in Oregon are new grandparents, their adorable granddaughter ready for snuggles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
So Tiny<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
Gigi writes – “For me, as a Gigi, I obediently stayed home and quarantined so that I could be in their home without worry. They, too, quarantined the last two weeks. Only daddy and momma allowed in the hospital. I came prepared with masks and gloves, but the parents didn’t require me to use them. I cleaned and sterilized an already clean home. And, we all washed our hands a lot!” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also welcomed our own new grandson, in Wasaga Beach, Ontario. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nap Time<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
Mom writes – “It was honestly terrifying, knowing that we were in a place where people could potentially be sick. I did have an amazing OB, who helped me through it all by showing me how to practice meditation. After the birth was the hardest part, due to Covid-19, because I couldn’t have my older son with me. We spent our first few nights away from each other and he had to wait to meet his brother face to face. I guess it’s just a mom thing, being sad about things like that. Overall, everything went well, but had the virus and quarantine not being going on, it would have been much easier. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
We at Bucerias Life in the Slow Lane send our heartiest congratulations to everyone who observes a milestone during this time of isolation. It can’t be easy celebrating without being surrounded by loved ones, but life truly does go on, and there is plenty to make us smile. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
