Planning for the 2020 Bucerias Children’s Christmas Program

Mr. Bruce Pigott, from Tequila Gardens in Bucerias, contacted us to help spread the message. The organizer’s of the Bucerias Children’s Christmas Program are collaborating with Tequila Gardens, and are seeking volunteers and financial support to provide a happy Christmas for our little ones. You may donate the following up to December 23rd:

**Baked Goods**

**Goodies for Grab Bags**

**CASH – from Here or Afar**

Ideas for different items to donate are welcomed.

Bruce says, “We are (also) looking for other small businesses to help with the goodie bags, candy, little toys, fruit…This may not be the best Christmas ever for a lot of these folks, but with a little help it can still be memorable.”

The entire team at Tequila Gardens has been operating one of many necessary food programs for the community of Bucerias since the pandemic hit. I cannot say it better than Bruce himself.

A recent Facebook post from Bruce: Christmas is fast approaching and we have funding for 10 more days of Service to the Community of Bucerias. I spent 3 days this week serving food in the Colonias. I did not see any change from April. Big smiles on the kids faces when they see us coming, the quiet desperation on the faces of the Seniors. We are still leaving hungry faces behind when the soup pots are empty. As we head into what we all hope will be High Season, some people are finding work, but with so few tourists and the expat community doing their best to isolate, businesses are struggling and Propinas that everyone counts on are very limited. We have a tough year ahead and with the non-existent Government support, all these folks have is Programs such as this. So please, if you can spare even $5, send it to one of the Programs operating in the Bay Area. That $5 can buy 10 kids a nutritious lunch. If you are in the Bucerias Area and have behaved yourself over the last 2 weeks, Please consider donating a couple hours of time, once or twice a week to help with food prep. PM me if you are interested. We start at 8 am and usually finished by 10. We also serve one of the Best Breakfasts in the Bay between 8am and 11 am with all Proceeds going to the Food Program. From 11am to 2 pm you can take away the same nutritious lunch that we serve to over 300 folks everyday, for ONLY $100. That will feed another 10 hungry folks. We Need Your Help to keep this important work going. If you would like to make a Difference in a lot of Lives, Please Pick One of the following and Donate. 100% of the Funds buys FOOD. And, an excerpt from a recent BCCP post: We are extremely excited to announce a new partnership with Bruce Piggott and his staff and volunteer team at Tequila Gardens. They have graciously accepted the enormous task of preparing food for the children that come to our distribution day on the 24th. For those of you that are unaware the Tequila Gardens team has been providing lunches for anywhere from 300 to 1000 people (at the height of the pandemic), 6 days a week. This has been a massive undertaking that unfortunately shows no signs of coming to an end anytime soon.

What we at the BCCP would like to do is start a fundraising campaign where we split donations 50/50 with this amazing program (like our program, the TG program utilizes 100% of all donations towards their cause, with none of the finds going towards overhead). Our 50% of the donations will go towards funding food for the children on distribution day; and the 50% that Tequila Gardens receives will go towards keeping their hot lunch program up and running to ensure the most vulnerable people in our community have access to food. In reality the sad situation is that many of the people that Tequila Gardens is feeding on a regular basis are children.

If you would like to donate to this partnership please do so in one of the following manners:

In person please contact: Kimberley Hall or Gwen Leather-Baer to make arrangements, or E-transfer to kdhall0552@gmail.com

Please note: there is NO deadline to donate funds to the Tequila Gardens food program.
