Day-to-Day

Bucerias Love

We asked friends why they chose Bucerias to get through their winter, and why they return, year after year. Here’s our first submission, from Jerry and Janie. Thank you for sharing your Bucerias story, Amigos!

WHY DID WE COME TO BUCERIAS?

We are Jerry and Janie Jordens from Weyburn, Saskatchewan, Canada.  We are retired and have been married for 52 years.

For several years, we spent 3 months of our winters in Yuma, Arizona. We enjoyed the desert and the friends that we made there.  We had a chance to sell our unit and decided to go for it and try something new.

We were now in a predicament of “where are we going to spend our winter?”

We had friends in Yuma who mentioned that they were going to try Bucerias.  We had never heard of it and kind of put it in the back of our minds.  As time was approaching winter, we thought more seriously about Mexico.  So, we searched on Airbnb and found a little apartment and booked it.  We spent 6 weeks that first time and fell in love with Bucerias.  Our hosts were so helpful teaching us the best way to cross the highway, where good eating places, banks, etc., were. That was four years ago!

We are fortunate to have met many friends here who have enriched our Bucerias experience. Together we find great restaurants, tasty margaritas, and share lots of laughter.

The Jordens, enjoying time with family around the pool, and attending the annual Saskatchewan Roughriders fan party.

We come from Saskatchewan where the winter has been so harsh this year. We feel so fortunate to be part of the Bucerias community, where we are greeted by friendly faces and feel safe as we venture out. We feel blessed to return to our winter home and hope to continue for many years.

We have since moved to a bit larger place with a pool, etc, and walking distance to everything, including the beach. We love the Mexican way – the music and culture, the local food, and even the barking dogs and crowing roosters!!
