The Morning Show!
Everyone knows Armi Grano’s Encore Restaurant for easy to listen to jazz and fine dining. A perfect spot for a great night out. Want to try something different at Encore? Try their breakfast, or as Kelly and I refer to it, “THE MORNING SHOW”!
Breakfast is pretty much our favourite meal of the day. Imagine your eggs over easy with a side of entertainment, starring Lauro, Eric, and Abril. Lauro and Eric are your servers. “Would you like coffee?”
“Yes, please.”
“For you, we have some of yesterday’s coffee. It is better, it is stronger!” Sometimes it is “last week’s” coffee that is offered, “to wake you up.” You get the idea.
Try ordering the same meal as your partner…served with a great deal of confusion, because your server has forgotten which of you ordered which breakfast. No matter how many times you find yourself in the middle of this routine, it always cements camaraderie and generates laughter. My wife is well known for her love of hot and spicy. Lauro or Eric always bring her a small bowl of their homemade spicy sauce to accompany her order. It is at various times referred to as “Mexican ketchup, mermelada for your toast, or sweetener for yesterday’s coffee.”
The busier the restaurant gets, the more entertaining our “Morning Show” becomes. The guys take orders, bus tables, interact with customers, pour coffee, serve multiple meals at the same time, all while keeping up the humorous banter. It is either perfectly choreographed, or just a couple of nice guys who go together like a comfortable pair of shoes. I suspect the latter!
The third member of the morning entertainment is Abril. She is the smiley-faced chef who somehow manages to see through the antics of Lauro and Eric. The result? A great breakfast, exactly the way you ordered it, and looking like an ad in a glossy magazine. Thank you, Abril.
We had, of course, asked Armi for authorization to take some staff pictures. When we spoke to Lauro and Eric this morning about taking a couple of photos, Eric said, “I have to fix my hair.” Lauro responds, “Your hair is OK.” Lauro “Do you want me to take my shirt off for the picture?”…Eric “Leave your shirt on!”
I am sure you get the idea. What a great way to start your day…delicious food prepared and served by entertaining folks!
