Kape Coffee and Breakfast

Karina, Opening Day

Meet Karina Ramirez and her staff. This is her new restaurant. Karina is a wife, mother and businesswoman. The food is excellent, the setting is casual and well spaced.

Karina comes from a family with a long history of fine food. Some months ago we featured Culi’s Restaurant. Well known and well enjoyed. Karina, Ezekiel and Culi are cousins. Three sisters, aunts of Karina, are the chefs at Culi’s, Marisol a mexican restaurant in Juneau, Alaska, and Kape, Karina’s restaurant. Kelly and I can speak about Kape and Culi’s as we have enjoyed food at both.

Karina’s breakfast coffee, at least cafe americano, is an interesting blend of 7 different beans, from places like Oaxaca, Chiapas, Veracruz, Colombia. One of my go-to breakfasts is Huevos Rancheros. Couple of fried eggs on top of a couple of tortillas, with salsa de tomate, right? Wrong, add some beans and chips, some baby potatoes. Sounds better and better. Wait a minute, that tomato sauce has sweet peppers, onions, some interesting seasonings, and your server asked how you wanted the eggs done.

Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day and Kelly and I can often be found enjoying a breakfast out in Bucerias. Over the past few months we have been posting breakfast places we have enjoyed. We happily include Karina’s Kape to that list.

Oh, by the way Karina, Julio suggested we also mention that your husband is very handsome. We think he meant my wife is very beautiful! Julio Chavez, Karina’s husband owns Barchelata Beer Bar that we have mentioned in previous posts.

Open 8:00am to 7:00pm, Monday to Saturday, 322 134 6978 Kape Coffee and Breakfast is located at: Calle Guadalupe Victoria, #36, at the corner of 5 de Mayo, and, just around the corner from Culi’s Restaurant and Bar.
