La Squina del Sabor

LA SQUINA DEL SABOR! Lives up to its billing, flavour corner. Some of us know it better as “Brenda’s.” In any event, it is about Brenda’s food. Brenda opened her restaurant in July of 2022. A year later it is flourishing.

Breakfast is Tuesday-Saturday, opening at 8:00am. Lunch is 12-00-3:30pm. Check out these portions…no wonder we see so many burly construction workers getting their fill at Brenda’s!

Should you have an urge for breakfast anytime, you may order it from opening to closing. Lunch is kind of interesting. Tuesday is spaghetti, Wednesday is chile rellano, Thursday is meatball soup and Friday is fish. Saturday, order from the menu.

Check out these tortas and sandwiches! Brenda says, “The bread makes the difference.”

Rosa, handpicking the bolillos.

Many restaurants close for periods of time in the summer months. Not Brenda. She scales back a little bit, but offers delicious food every day. Over the past month we have been four times for breakfast and twice for lunch. I would like to call it research, but in reality it is our enjoyment of great food. During high season, La Squina Del Sabor extends their hours and offers more choices, including Sunday Brunch, however, that is a topic for another day.

Brenda, on the left, describes the “Squina Team” – her nephew, Kenny, “is my right hand, and Rosa is my left hand.”

A bit about Brenda. Born in Puerto Vallarta, she was raised in Bahia de Banderas and the United States. Her training involved learning all facets of the food industry, server, cashier, kitchen staff, and eventually chef. Now you know as much about the basics as I do. Time for the real reason we go regularly. Growing up, most everybody knew about comfort food. Our moms, our grandmothers, a favourite aunt. We all enjoyed those meals we thought of as comfort food. Never saw a recipe. Pinch of this, dash of that. Perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned. All you had to add was a knife and a fork, or a spoon. This really describes the food Brenda offers. No requirement for six varieties of hot sauces, and salt and pepper shakers are for decorating the table.

When you have finished your meal, take a look at the various artwork. Brenda is quite accomplished with a paintbrush and an easel.

Located at Camino viejo al valle 500, Col. Huanacaxtle, Bucerias. WhatsApp 322 236 6928. You’ll also find them on Facebook and Instagram.

Thanks, My Friend Marge. Fortunately, I was present to sample the goods while Dennis composed Brenda’s story.
We WILL go there together…breakfast or lunch? Both!
