Summer is Over – Time to Wake Up!

Rip Van Winkle’s Long Nap

Kind of having a Rip Van Winkle moment, although it has only been two months for me, not 20 years. We celebrated five years living in Bucerias in July. We flew one way to Puerto Vallarta July 17th, 2017. July 21st, we moved into our new home. So, July was kind of a festive month for Kelly and I. And then of course August happened. I celebrated my 75th birthday, had a visit from one of our kids, and spent a few days in Guadalajara with our friends Mark and Jacqueline. Kind of a birthday month! Anyway, it is time to get back to something we so enjoy, talking about life in Bucerias.

Bucerias Eats. Normally we would focus on a particular restaurant. This time we are going to visit some of our favourite eateries that closed for a vacation, and took the opportunity to renovate to better meet the needs of locals and tourists. Recent government press releases indicate tourism in 2022 grew by 65% over 2021. One need only look to the dramatic condo development. More people means more business. Not exactly rocket science.

Culi and Tio

Culi’s. One of our favourites. Go for a drink, go for appetizers, go for a special lunch or dinner. Culi’s is the place. We think of the Sanchez family as the first family of food in Bucerias. After a short break, the renovations began. A massive granite bar now takes up the entire eastern wall of the dining area.

Measured at 7 meters, it has comfortable seating for several people, who may want a drink or two before dining.

Buclas draft beer on tap, a superb wine selection, thanks to Ezekiel the sommelier, and pretty much any drink you could imagine thanks to Pancho, who is one of the best bartenders in the area.

Culi and Ezekiel assured us the menu will stay the same. All my favourites will be available!

Culi’s will re-open Wednesday September 21st at 5pm.
