Day-to-Day

This and That…

ANOTHER MONDAY IN BUCERIAS…seems this one is a little different. Probably because we seem to have wandered into rainy season about a month early. Lost track of the amount of birds I have seen splashing about in puddles yesterday and today.

It appears to be busier this June. Lots of Nationals and quite a few Americans are here, being tourists. Some much needed relief for local business. The condo sites continue to grow and finished units are being delivered. It will be interesting to see the demographics. What is the mix between investing, moving here to live permanently, buying now and getting ready for retirement somewhere down the road.

Last Thursday evening a rose wine and appetizer pairing at Sandrina’s. This is Sandra and her staff at their best. The event was sold out, within protocols of course. Dropped in at Karen’s Saturday afternoon for happy hour. Not a seat available!

For many months we have lamented the state of our “quaint” cobblestone streets. The onslaught of heavy trucks servicing the condo construction has really beaten up many of our local roads. The ASOCIACION DE COLONOS ZONA DORADA A.C. has been advocating street repair in Zona Dorada, to the local authorities. It is finally underway. A large shout out to the asociacion! They do so much for Zona Dorada, and we will cover more of their story in the coming weeks.

For a moment on Calle Charro, I thought they were patching pot holes and building public washrooms. Improvisation is great, although I am not sure I could have come up with using a discarded toilet as a construction pilon. Any boss I ever had would have told me that is pretty crappy, or you are going to pee someone off with that!

Another fun show is on Fibba. Quite simple, dog on garrobo duty, dog off garrobo duty. Always something unique. Keeps that smile on your face!
