Amigos de Bucerias

Their mission:
“The civil association Amigos de Bucerias AC is dedicated to the protection and enhancement of the quality of life in Bucerias, in cooperation with all residents, elected and appointed officials, business leaders, and visitors.”

Examples of what’s under their umbrella; a special needs fund, recycling program, Paws and Claws spay and neuter clinics, the Migrant School, (the little school that SEP forgot), and beach clean-up announcements.

Profits from their well managed recycling program pays for replacing street lights.  The municipality supplies the truck and the bucket, but not the LED bulbs. In just one month they have replaced up to eighty-six bulbs, thus increasing our community’s safety.

Aside from the great work they do, monthly meetings are a chance for the group to get together for some social time while keeping everyone informed.  Members learn about new businesses, upcoming events, and gain local knowledge as they listen to guest speakers who present on such topics as medivac or community plans impacting tourism and locals.

The Amigos de Bucerias is currently fundraising for a vehicle to be used for their recycling program.  One generous donor paid 10000 pesos in legal fees for the group to change their charter in order to own a vehicle, and the same philanthropist is covering the cost of insurance for the first year.  You, too, may make a donation through the Amigo’s website. http://amigosdebucerias.org

Their membership meetings are held at the Delicias Mexicanas Restaurant, on Francisco I. Madero #106, Bucerias, the first Saturday of every month.  (see above link for their reservation instructions) The annual membership fee is just 300 pesos.

Plan to attend the next meeting, Saturday, March 7, where you’ll be welcomed by the group, learn new things, and have some fun.
