That’s Mr. Santana to you! As many of you know, we follow our taste buds around Bucerias. A great second career. To truly appreciate great food, we like to meet the folks who prepare it. In this case, that would be Mario Santana and his wife, Andrea.
Mario has lived his entire life in Bucerias, and his entire life’s work has been in the food business. He and Andrea met, where else, in a restaurant in La Cruz, where she happened to be babysitting and he was a server. Together, they opened their own restaurant eight years ago here in Bucerias, and continue providing amazing food and service to this day.
The food is well prepared and well presented. Their serving staff is cheerful and give off that happy to see you vibe. Another clue to their reputation is “hey, didn’t we see that same couple the last time we were here?” Anyone who has a thing for eggs benedict, Mr. Santana’s is one of the best! Mario mentioned that it took him 3 years to perfect his pancakes to his satisfaction. Kind of says it all.
For those who like to eat a more healthy meal, oatmeal porridge and tasty salads are a couple examples.
I almost forgot to mention the caesars, not salad, the ones in the glass with a celery stick. The Santana team mixes a great cocktail. Delightful!

Mario and Andrea close for some time during the summer, when they head to cooler air in the mountains and enjoy spending time with their dogs. All ten of them!
Mr. Santana’s is open Tuesday to Sunday, 8:30-3:00. Seating is available inside and out.
