Delicias Mexicanas - Bucerias Life in The Slow Lane
Bucerias Eats

Delicias Mexicanas

For some reason, I think of this place as “Abraham’s.” In any event, if you are a foodie, or just plain hungry, you must try this restaurant located at Francisco I. Madero, #106, in Bucerias.

Delicias Mexicanas is owned and operated by Abraham and Patricia. They are mexican nationals who spent many years in the food industry in California, and in fact are certified chefs according to California custom. They ultimately decided to return to Mexico, and here they are in Bucerias. Some seven years ago they opened their own restaurant, “Delicias Mexicanas.”

The setting is a tiered entrance leading to courtyard. One wall has a mural painted by a friend of ours, Jim Bob. The courtyard has several fruit trees. I watched star fruit being picked, and enjoyed a couple of slices with my breakfast.

The staff are all family, cheery and attentive.

The food is deliciosa. Another one of those open kitchens where you can see the food being prepared. Do you think they put a little more garlic on the grill than is necessary? The aroma causes some drool issues! Try a bowl of soup made from blue cheese and poblano peppers, with a caesar salad. Hard to think of anything that could possibly be better. Dinner has a variety of meats and a number of pasta dishes. Impossible to make a bad choice.

Abraham has some great stories, best shared over a margarita. Ask him about meeting celebrities while working as a chef at private functions in Punta de Mita. And, there’s some really interesting family history – his surname is Madrid, which traces back to the Spanish occupation of Mexico!

Delicias Mexicanas is also the monthly meeting place for Amigos de Bucerias, the volunteer group that is focused on improving our quality of life in Bucerias. Join them the first Saturday of every month, for breakfast and subsequent Amigos meeting. http://www.amigosdebucerias.org

Find Delicias Mexicanas in Zona Dorada, Francisco I. Madero 106 or on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/deliciasmexicanasbucerias/ or call 329 688 0859. They’re open every day from 8AM-9PM.

You won’t be disappointed. Great lunch and dinner menu, too.
